[헤럴드경제=이원율 기자]도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 29일(현지시간) 이란과의 종전 양해각서(MOU) 체결 뒤 국제유가가 떨어지는 상황을 직접 거론했다.그러면서 미국 내 주유소를 겨냥,테더 원화 시세당장 가격을 내릴 것을 경고했다.
트럼프 대통령은 이날 사회관계망서비스(SNS) 트루스소셜에 “주유소들은 즉시 가격을 인하해야 한다”며 “현재 원유가 배럴당 68달러며 하락세임을 고려할 때,휘발유 가격은 너무 높다”고 밝혔다고 연합뉴스는 전했다.
그러면서 “주유소들은 이 성명에 신속하게 반응해야 하며,테더 원화 시세옳은 일을 해야 한다”며 “우리의 위대한 미국인을 위해 가격을 내리라”고 했다.
트럼프 대통령은 “주유소들이 이를 하지 않으면 앞으로 큰 문제가 닥칠 것”이라고 직접 경고까지 했다.

앞서 트럼프 대통령은 국제유가 하락세에도 휘발유 가격이 충분히 떨어지지 않는다며 법무부에 관련 문제를 조사하라고 지시한 바 있다.
지난 24일(현지시간) 블룸버그통신에 따르면 트럼프 대통령은 트루스소셜에 “대형 석유회사들이 원유에 지불하는 가격이 급격하게 낮아졌는데도 주유소 판매 가격이 그에 상응하게 떨어지지 않고 있다”며 이같이 밝혔다고 연합뉴스는 보도했다.
트럼프 대통령은 “휘발유 가격은 지금 내가 보고 있는 것보다 훨씬 더 빨리 내려가기 시작해야 한다”고 했다.
다만 트럼프 대통령은 법무부에 어떤 조사를 지시했는지는 밝히지 않았다.
트럼프 대통령은 미국과 이란이 종전 MOU를 맺은 후 호르무즈 해협 통항이 늘어나면서 국제유가가 하락세를 보이는 가운데,테더 원화 시세국제유가 하락분이 소비자 가격에 빠르게 반영되지 않는 점에 불만을 보인 것으로 보인다.
